Perched on the dramatic cliffs of Pinnacle Point Estate near Mossel Bay, this contemporary coastal residence commands sweeping views across the Indian Ocean and the estate’s rugged rock formations. The architecture is carefully shaped by its remarkable setting, celebrating the landscape rather than competing with it.

The steep, rocky terrain informed a multi-level design that follows the site’s natural contours, minimizing disturbance while creating a sequence of spaces that respond to the changing levels. A sculptural cantilevered concrete staircase provides a striking connection between the garages, principal living areas, and the main bedroom, while the arrival experience unfolds through a private courtyard before opening to expansive living spaces framed by uninterrupted ocean views.

A restrained palette of dry-packed slate, off-shutter concrete, and Garapa timber introduces warmth and texture, balancing the home’s crisp geometric forms with natural materials that age gracefully in the coastal environment. The result is a refined residence that sits confidently within its surroundings, combining contemporary architecture with a deep respect for the landscape that inspired it.
