Featured in SA Homeowners magazine, this modern coastal residence was built around one bold vision: seamlessly incorporating an aircraft into the rooftop Sky bar entertainment zone, transforming it into an eye-catching landmark visible from the crossroads surrounding the prestigious Pinnacle Point Estate in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
The aircraft display area is styled like a luxury showroom, combining expansive frameless glass, steel structural elements, hidden LED lighting, and raw concrete finishes. Suspended above the terrain, the cantilevered form has become a signature landmark of the estate.
Given Pinnacle Point’s well-known exposure to strong winds, the home is built around a sheltered inner courtyard that functions as the primary entertainment and recreation zone. Serving as the property’s central gathering point, this courtyard is equipped with a range of features customized to the homeowners’ lifestyle.
Inside this protected area, the double-volume living, dining, and kitchen zones flow together, connecting seamlessly with the rooftop Sky bar and aircraft display room above. This layout creates a sense of visual flow throughout the home, deepening the connection between indoor and outdoor living.
Overlooking the golf course, an elevated lap pool offers sweeping ocean views. Frameless glass barriers shield the pool area from prevailing winds while preserving unobstructed sightlines. A solar-powered heat pump keeps the water at a comfortable temperature year-round, no matter the season.
Interior and exterior finishes were chosen to evoke a refined, sophisticated feel, built on a dark palette of black, charcoal, and timber tones. Textural richness comes through in custom materials — grey marble tiling, perforated charcoal aluminium screening, off-shutter concrete walls, and timber slat pergolas — each adding depth and character to the design.
Sustainability is woven into the home’s infrastructure through integrated green technology. Efficient gas geysers, solar panels, battery storage, and rainwater harvesting systems are all quietly built into the design, kept out of view. These eco-conscious systems help minimize the home’s environmental footprint while boosting its long-term durability.
